Johnny Runyon Named City of Greenville Police Chief

Johnny Runyon has accepted the position of Police Chief for the City of Greenville. Chief Runyon is an experienced law enforcement professional who is well equipped to guide the Greenville Police Department into the future.

Chief Runyon is a military veteran who served in the United States Marine Corps from 1977 to 1981. His career with the Illinois State Police spanned 25 years in various capacities including patrol, violent crime investigations, drug investigations, crime scene services, tactical response team, and a number of management positions.  He earned his Master of Science Degree in Criminal Justice in 2010.  Since retirement from the Illinois State Police he has worked for both the Bond County Sheriff’s Department and the Greenville Police Department.  Most recently, Chief Runyon has served as the Assistant Director of Public Safety at Southwestern Illinois College.
