Electronics Recycling
When:City Wide Yard Sale & Electronics Recycling Event Announced
City of Greenville is coordinating the annual City-Wide Yard Sale event and will provide maps
showing the location, hours, and some of the items available at participating residences. The sale
will be held Friday, April 17th & Saturday April 18th and is open to all city residents. There is no
cost to participate or to be included on the map.
Registration forms can be picked up at the City of Greenville Municipal Building. The form can
also be downloaded from the city's website, www.greenvilleillinois.com. Forms must be returned
to the municipal building by 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14th, to be included on the map.
The yard sale maps will be available beginning Thursday, April 16th, at the City of Greenville
Municipal Building or the Greenville Police Department located at 404 S. Third Street and the
City's website at www.greenvilleillinois.com.
Participants are reminded that yard sale signs should only be posted on private property with the
owner's consent and that it is illegal to post signs on city utility poles, street sign poles, or signal
light poles. For more information about the City-Wide Yard Sale, contact the municipal building

Additionally, in an effort to provide City of Greenville residents with a secure data and destruction
drop-off location for electronics disposal, the City will be coordinating an electronics recycling day.
Residents may bring their electronics to the public works facility located at 1307 S. Fourth Street
on Saturday, May 2nd from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
- Items that can be recycled include: A/C adapters, analyzers/test equipment; audio/visual
equipment; calculators; cameras; cell phones; computers/laptops; computer components;
copy machines; CRT machines; ink/toner; keyboards; LED/LCD monitors; LED/LCD
televisions; main frames; medical devices; mice; printers/fax machines;security equipment;
servers/serve r cabinets; stereo equipment; telephones; televisions;UPS/batter backups;
wires/cab les/cords; and much, much more... - Unacceptable items include: CDs;VHS tapes; cassette tapes; batteries; paint; oil and
other petroleum products; light bulbs (unless already part of the electronic device such
as projectors);plastic not from electronics; chemicals not related to electronic
equipment; refrigerator s; air conditioning units; aluminum cans; tin cans;miscellaneous
trash; glass bottles; wood products(unless already a part of the electronic device such as
a television); Loose cardboard; bare tubes from monitors or televisions (tubes must be a
part of the complete television or monitor unit).All electronics will be disposed of in a
very secure and environmentally responsible manner after the items are demanufactured and sorted. All hard drives are sent through a physical data destruction
process to ensure data security. This year, there will not be an additional charge for
televisions and monitors that are not flat screen, LED or LCD.
Residents should enter the gate at the public works facility and proceed to the secure drop-off
site. City employees will be at the drop-off site to assist in the collection of electronic items.
