Governor Bond Lake
Governor Bond Lake, in Greenville, Illinois was built in the late '60's for the water supply for Greenville and some surrounding communities. It is in Bond County and named for the first Governor of Illinois. It also serves as a recreational lake for fishing, skiing, jet skiing and just relaxing and cruising on a pontoon boat.
Governor Bond Lake is approximately 775 acres in size and stocked with catfish, bass, crappie and bluegill. Boating, fishing and skiing can be enjoyed once the proper permits are obtained from the City of Greenville Municipal Building. Governor Bond Lake offers two boat ramps. The Bond County Ski Club is a great facility to use to enjoy the lake at a very reasonable fee. It is a not-for-profit organization and has a limited membership of 40 families. If interested, please mail an inquiry to P.O. Box 314, Greenville, IL 62246 for an application. A referral is necessary.
