 | Greenville Parks Greenville and the adjacent area is located within the Kingsbury Park District. There are presently three major parks in the district: Patriot's Park, west of Greenville; Jaycee Park, on Hena Street, which also has baseball and softball diamonds; and the William S. Wait Swimming Pool, with soccer fields, on Vine Street. All of the major parks are equipped with pavilions and playgrounds. Fishing and boating opportunities are available on Governor Bond Lake, which serves as the reservoir for Greenville and surrounding communities. Kingsbury Park District - more information | Governor Bond Lake | | Governor Bond Lake, in Greenville, Illinois was built in the late '60's for the water supply for Greenville and some surrounding communities. It is in Bond County and named for the first Governor of Illinois. It also serves as a recreational lake for fishing, skiing, jet skiing and just relaxing and cruising on a pontoon boat. It is approximately 775 acres in size and stocked with catfish, bass, crappie and bluegill. You can fish and ski at the lake. At the marina, you can rent boats, boat slips, purchase gasoline and bait. Camping is also available at the marina. For more information, please call (618) 267-1643. Jet skis and wave runners are also allowed. The Bond County Boat & Ski Club is a great facility to use to enjoy the lake at a very reasonable fee. Read more about the Governor Bond Lake regulations. | | Carlyle Lake | | Carlyle Lake is the largest manmade lake within Illinois with more than 26,000 acres of water and 11,000 acres of land. It is located just 50 miles east of St. Louis, Missouri. Carlyle Lake offers tremendous recreational opportunities. Regardless of your tastes, Carlyle Lake has something for you. You can go fishing for bass, bluegill, crappie, catfish, walleye, sauger, or more than 30 other species. The tailwater (below the dam) is the most productive fishing area in Illinois, producing 3,260 lbs. of fish per water acre. The state record flathead catfish and white bass have been caught in the spillway. The Department of Natural Resources also provides opportunities for hunting white-tailed deer, turkeys, squirrels, bobwhite quail, rabbits and mourning doves. Trapping is permitted after the duck season and requires a permit from the site manager. | Golf Courses Twin Oaks Golf Course Twin Oaks is a small semi-private club that is family owned and well maintained. Greenville Country Club Private club offering a 9-hole course with a swimming pool and Club House. Governor's Run The Carlyle Lake surrounds this very scenic course. The course was built on rolling hills, so expect many uneven lies.
