| Bond County Emergency Medical Services (BCEMS), based at Greenville Regional Hospital, is a paramedic-level service with Advanced Life Support (ALS) status. The hospital contracts with Midwest Emergency Medical Services to provide 24-hour a day, seven days a week Emergency Department physician coverage. Greenville Regional Hospital’s Emergency Department nurses and physicians work directly by radio with local paramedics and EMTs in the field so physicians and nurses are familiar with the patient’s medical condition and are prepared for tests and medications when the patient reaches the Emergency Department. All Greenville Regional Hospital Emergency Department staff is trained beyond what is required by law. It’s their commitment to their patients to be prepared to assess and handle emergencies and stabilize patients should a transfer to a trauma center be necessary. Urban trauma centers, such as St. Louis University, are approximately twenty minutes away by ARCH helicopter. Less serious cases are transported by ambulance to St. Louis, usually a 50-minute trip.An entire new Emergency Department is part of the hospital’s recent expansion project. Trauma rooms, exam rooms, an all-weather ambulance bay and other features enhance emergency treatment and patient and family privacy. Visit the Greenville Regional Hospital web site.
